Review of Basic Instinct (1992) by Jake G — 06 Oct 2009
"Slick" is a good word to describe BASIC INSTINCT. It reminds me of something Hitchcock would have made, late in his career, if he was completely bonkered and the assistant director took over.
He'd be off in his chair, occasionally setting up a genius shot or two, and the A.D. puts forty minutes of porn in it and calls it a movie. I'm exaggerating, of course, but that's pretty much the main idea.
A fairly lowbrow movie that grabs your attention, but with boobies, not brilliance.
