Review of Basic (2003) by Zach R — 11 Oct 2008
Just like the characters' story, I changed my mind about whether or not I liked this movie numerous times before it was even done. Final verdict: I liked it. More twists than almost any other movie I have ever seen, but the final twist, the one that brings the film to a simple, profound ending, is a doozy.
Many people considered John Travolta in career meltdown when this film came out and most didn't think much of it. I, for one, think Travolta gives one of his best performances since Pulp Fiction. This is a must see, and a pleasant surprise.
