Review of Basic (2003) by Ryan B — 01 Apr 2009
John Travolta comes to the rescue once more when something goes awry in the armed forces. `Basic' satisfies one of my personal criteria for a good movie: being interesting on repeat viewing. The plot is tight, and keeps tightening until a surprising unwinding at the end, which I won't give away here, of course.
The scene with `Good cop / bad cop' is refreshingly funny, and the one with the phone book is hysterical! See for yourself.
