Basic failed to set itself apart from other military dramas and has (understandably) fallen through the cracks. There is a fantastic twist in this movie but the moments following the twist do not support the momentum building throughout and leaves the viewer disappointed.
Travolta was good but Jackson just did not create a character as despicable as the reputation presented throughout the movie.
