Review of Basic (2003) by Darius M — 09 Sep 2010
The sky flashes red and green and everyone in this film is insane, playing games in an asylum, but their ecstasy eventually peak and they can only throw any early logic at each other like water bombs and giggle like schoolgirls.
Connie Nielsensâ?? character is like the journalist in Shock Corridor who commits himself in a mental institute to solve a murder, but ends up going crazy instead. Basic is like the merry response to Fullersâ?? masterpiece.
Also, this has to be John McTiernanâ??s greatest work, itâ??s just a joy to sit through.
