Hell is the life of the common man.
Memorable performances all around (Goodman & Turturro of course, but exuberance from Mahoney and Lerner also). After the movie ends, it is time to ask, "So what did the Coen Bros MEAN by that...". I dont know whether this is a strength (the movie sticks) or a weakness (better to say nothing than to utter banalities).
In the always-fun Coen Bros ranking game, I think this is second tier, below Miller's Crossing, Blood Simple, Fargo... Maybe future viewing will deepen my appreciation?
