One of the coens best and most poetic films. since it is so early in their careers, their technical know how is not as precise as it has become in recent years. however, the story itself, while taking a while to start spinning, takes off and never stops.
goodman plays as well as he ever has, as do mahoney, davis, and turturro. it is a harrowing comment on the nature of creating art and the artists ego. excellent stuff.
