Review of Barton Fink (1991) by Bobby D — 17 Dec 2011
The first time I saw it I enjoyed it alot. The second time I fell in love with it. The Coen's direction is flawless yet again. The deliberate slow pace in the first half really builds this odd, surreal tension to the film.
The performances across the board are fantastic. I mean every single character stands out no matter how small the screen time. The movie is full of metaphors both big and small dealing with the Hollywood film industry and writer's block.
Leaving the ending as open as they do gives repeated viewings a better experience every time you watch it.
