Review of Barton Fink (1991) by Rick Q — 04 Apr 2012
"barton fink" is a brilliant dark comedy about a writer with writers block. john turturro gives a pitch perfect performance as the title character, a role that easily could have been played exaggeratedly neurotic.
but turturro plays the character very subtly, and with that you can really feel that fink losing his mind. michael lerner, judy davis, tony shaloub, and of course john goodman are also steller in their respective roles.
"barton fink" is my second favorite film by joel and ethan coen, behind only "the big lebowski". anyone who generally likes the style and humor of their films, will surely love it.
