Review of Barton Fink (1991) by Cody V — 09 Apr 2012
A 100%, not because it's the most endearing movie around.
No, think on over to the film Quiz Show, by another director. It's more the performance value that anyone could be looking for. I couldn't get this film off of my mind. Think on over to Christine. It's like the very car of the era. You probably thought everybody had one. You want to get in on it, check out its look & feel and take it for that first test drive.
Think on over to Barton Fink. No one has one. You've never seen the movie. Or maybe everyone has one. And maybe you have seen the movie? But that has nothing to do with the 100% rating, either.
It's just a good, cerebral movie that makes you think. Call it engaging. But it has the sort of performance value that can keep the right person occupied for free.
Nonetheless, what if the film were a sort of sequel to The Unforgiven? You know, as soon as the opening scene ends, we have to wonder how Josie meets up with his wife, where was she from. And what if it were San Francisco?
Or maybe we're all just $2 whores in Texas except for Barton Fink?
I hope this helps. I've never written a review for Barton Fink before. I feel like, just perhaps, there should be a team of Barton Fink viewers behind the movie to appreciate this perpetual greatness that can't be named.
Could it be that we are all $2 whores in Texas except for Barton Fink?
I'll leave you to your nice day and usual evening cockateel.
