Barton Fink is hilarious and almost perfect. It is one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. Every time I watch it, it only gets better. The whole movie is about a writer who writes a great play and is asked to write a movie.
But the only problem is that it is a B-movie. The writer can't figure out how to do that. So he he tries too hard and write what he calls his best work. The whole movie is filled with metaphors and things that would show up later in the movie.
One of my favorite is the picture. In Barton's hotel room where he resides, there is a photo of a woman sitting on a beach that inspires him to write. In the end of the movie he experiences that photo.
There is a whole story that is really complicated and can't even explain. If I hadn't seen tis movie, then I wouldn't think so highly of John Turturro (Mainly because of Transformers). He does such a good job in this movie.
Who else could play Barton Fink, he looks like a Barton. John Goodman does well also. I think John Turturro should have been nominated or won an Oscar for his performance. I mean Anthony Hopkins won for The Silence of the Lambs.
Where he only appears in the movie for like 2 and a half minutes.The Coen brothers should have won Best Original Scrrenplay. This is an all around great movie. but that's what you get with an awesome script, a great cast and perfect visuals.
