Review of Barton Fink (1991) by Sue D — 26 Jun 2011
Shit's confusing and the directors should have either made ideas clearer or not brought them up at all. Lots of stuff is introduced solely because they just felt like putting it in the movie and not because it matters at all.
Most of the concepts in this movie I find to be just like the breast cancer scene in The Room: completely inconsequential and only there to add filler or a false sense of depth to a simple story. I guess the Coen brothers can get away with claiming it's intentional ambiguity.
It had good production values and all that though. Also the dvd menu spoils the plot wtf.
