Review of Barton Fink (1991) by Kyle G — 22 Jun 2014
I've never seen a bad Coen Brothers film but my reactions to them are varied. For example everyone seems to love "Raising Arizona," but I found it completely unfunny, yet "Fargo" to me had magnificent dark humor and is in my eyes a masterpiece.
I did not enjoy Barton Fink upon my first viewing, although I tried to appreciate the symbolism. The leads just didn't do it for me in comedic terms and I wasn't interested in their characters. Maybe if I view it again I will better understand the message/metaphors. So... this rating isn't final.
