Review of Barry Munday (2010) by Ross H — 13 Jan 2011
Two not too likeable main characters derails this movie even before it gets on the tracks. Patrick Wilson plays the title character, a selfish horndog who's only interested in getting as many girls as he can.
When a bizarre movie theater accident with a trumpet leaves him without testicles (?!!) he later learns that when he had testicles that he got a one night stand (Judy Greer, almost unrecognizable) preggers.
He is now going to be a daddy and with that there are some serious financial responsibilities that need to be addressed. We see Barry own up to his responsibility eventually and we like him a lot better than when we first saw him but Ginger (Judy Greer), the mother of his future child was a struggle throughout the film.
She's basically a first class bitch to Barry almost throughout the whole film. Which makes it hard to invest feelings for her in the film. That's the main problem I had with the film. Malcolm McDowell play's Ginger's father and Billy Dee Williams (!) plays Barry's boss.
Also I must say Chloe Sevigny who plays Ginger's sister Jennifer hasn't looked this attractive since dinosaurs ruled the earth. She actually looked hot in some scenes. Amazing. Oh well, I can't recommend this one I'm afraid.
