Another Kubrick masterpiece, and an amazing period piece to boot. Barry Lyndon is a lush, richly detailed, and magnifcently acted film experience. The sets and costumes and the makeup are eye-poppingly gorgeous.
Lest you think the movie is all style, the acting and story are up to the task. Ryan O'Neal's Redmond Barry is a richly drawn, compelling character, and Kubrick expertly draws you into the story of the character's rise and fall.
A masterful film from a masterful filmmaker.
