Review of Barry Lyndon (1975) by Bob L — 14 Mar 2011
Kubrick's best for my money, every frame a postcard, every note a symphony. Such a great showcase for his photgraphy. One of the only 3 hour films I wouldn't cut anything from. I could watch young Redmond walk down the path all day long.
Conceptually, a nice mirror of contemporary American society: the anti-war sentiment of Vietnam, class struggle, the means-to-ends mentality of high society, corruption upon wealth. The ultimate rise-and-fall period piece that speaks universally.
