Review of Barry Lyndon (1975) by Peter F — 28 Apr 2013
Perhaps Kubrick's most underrated film, and definitely among his very best. Given that the film is a three-hour long 18th century period piece, it's clear Kubrick wasn't exactly going for accessible here, but Barry Lyndon is every bit an epic, and a very fun one too.
Rich in adventure, wit, surprises and gorgeous cinematography, Barry Lyndon is absolutely a Kubrickian masterpiece, and the closest the director ever came towards making his Napolean movie.
