Barry Lyndon is visually astonishing as it is beautiful to the ear.
Kubrick achieved his goal with this film. Watching Barry Lyndon is like watching a book unfold on the screen, its slow, visually triumphing dialogue, and is drawn out and descriptive to every detail. Lyndon lacked character and its development which yet again was Kubrick's point but, who's to say? What you take from Barry Lyndon is what you saw and its still very delightful.
