It's always a challenge to combine caustic humour with the wisdom of life's lessons - both its successes and tragedies. Barney's Version does that adroitly. Its only defect is the rather abrupt and forced ending.
... Nevertheless, a witty and highly enjoyable film - and Paul Giamatti is at his very best, together with an excellent supporting cast.
