Review of Barney's Version (2010) by Claire G — 16 Apr 2011
I thoroughly enjoyed Barney's Version and feel many professional critics are unduly harsh to describe Barney as an unpleasant man. I found Paul Giametti's portrayal of a seriously flawed but fundamentally decent 'mensch' totally credible, as is the rest of the excellent cast.
For me they created a story that represents, with wicked humour, the less than perfect state of being human. Though some of the action borders on the absurd it manages to stay credible whilst poking fun at stereotypes in stereotypical situations.
The end was interesting. Did Barney realise the fate of his old friend or simply observe what was going on in front of him.
