Review of Barney's Version (2010) by Alec B — 29 Jun 2011
Not a terribly great film, its like most that cover several decades and the first half is rather boring. I also think that Minnie Driver's performance is too over-the-top to really fit in with the rest of the cast.
I still enjoyed it because Paul Giamatti's performance as Barney is perfect. He manages to make this rather disagreeable individual enduring and its fairly believable that someone as pretty as Rosamund Pike would fall in love with him.
Dustin Hoffman is also great, the scenes between him and Giamatti are the best in the film.
