Review of Barney's Version (2010) by Martin L — 03 Jul 2011

I really liked this movie, even though it wasn't anything like I expected it to be. I figured it would be more of a straightforward quirky comedy, but it was much more then that. The movie just decades at times, was serious very often, kind of sad at times, and even had a little murder mystery in thrown there.

The plot takes a lot of twists and turns that were not expected. Paul Giamatti, who is one of my favorite actors, gives a great performance and carries this entire film. The film is long and almost kind of feels like an epic film as it spans so much time and has so many different tones in this film.

Overall a film I really enjoyed and was very surprised at this film.
