Review of Barney's Version (2010) by Josh H — 26 Aug 2012
This movie has it all. The usual Giamatti dry humour coupled with short words of wisdom from legendary Dustin Hoffman. The movie starts out as a tribute to the young and foolish and all the great times that go along with it as protrayed by Barney.
As the movies progresses, it morphs into a confession of the deeper and darker side of Barney and revels the consequences of the vices that drive Barney to the brink of disaster when with the one mistake brings this movie to such an emotional level that shakes one to the core.
Rosamund Pike stands out like an angel in this movie. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, get the box of tissue ready. The ending portrays a realization that we all live a life of joy and experience mistakes that alter our lives forever especially when we sit back and realize what could have been.
