Review of Barfly (1987) by John R — 14 Oct 2016
161014: The mess that can be human life. Rourke still amazes me with this performance. His character seems exaggerated yet realistic at the same time. Dunaway compliments him perfectly and you almost feel you're a fly on the wall; a bar fly.
Upon reflection, a realistic and disturbing love story. A story of family. A disfunctional family but a family nonetheless. You're drawn in and adopted for the duration of the film, then escape as the cycle continues.
