Review of Barfi! (2012) by Gaurav S — 24 Sep 2012
A part of me wants to ignore all the flaws and love the film for the character Barfi, but this almost hackneyed film disappoints in parts. The story is unnecessarily dragged which should have just kept simple but Anurag Basu gets so much involved in the film that he just wants to keep it running forever.
Priyanka Chopra disappoints as advised in Tropic Thunder - never go full retard. Ranbir Kapoor delivers a brilliant character while Ileana manages to look very pretty. Saurabh Shukla shines and is lovely to watch.
Barfi had the potential to be a great movie, but Anurag Basu fails to make it a great one. It has some very beautiful scenes, stunning cinematography and a cool Ameliesque BG score, but its dragged 2nd half and lose ends make it just a one timer.
