Review of Barely Lethal (2015) by Marc N — 30 May 2015
Teen comedy about a girl who is trained as an assassin but decides to fake her own death to go to high school like a "real person." Very hokey with Samuel L. Jackson as the head of the secret group trying to get her back.
The direction is off in many parts and the film tries to be hipper than it actually is. What I did like about the film was the relationship between Hailee Steinfeld and Dove Cameron, they had a good chemistry and Cameron especially was the best part of the film for me.
Jessica Alba is also in this, as some sort of villain, but she doesn't try too hard to be believable and just stands around giving smirky line readings.
