Review of Barbie and the Diamond Castle (2008) by Becky B — 31 Dec 2011
I hated this when it came out in 2008. I saw it again today after all this time and I still don't think it is so spectacular. The girls are lovely girls, but the brown haired girl is quite selfish at one point.
It's also quite modernised for being set in an olden day time with flashy glitter outfits and lots of pink. The girls also live alone, which makes no sense. I do not like Barbie singing movies, so it really got to me.
The 'twin guys' are also a disgrace, they tried to make them 'funny'. But all they are, are smart ass jerks with irish accents. I did not like them at all, not all like the charming kind men in the other Barbie films.
Barbie also looks very different in this film than the previous films (she changes appearance a lot...). It was a very 'hip' film for being set in an olden time. I did not like the rock music, upbeat pop music, even computers are seen at one point.
I thought it was pretty bad, but still watchable, so 3 stars.
