Review of Barbie (2023) by Jakeyjake — 22 Jul 2023
Barbie is yet another attempt at the post-modern, "meta" commentary, this time aimed to deconstruct the patriarchy while focusing, and even poking a bit of satirical "fun" at the Mattel fashion doll that the film is adapted from.
It provides none of the humor or lighthearted, summer escapism the movie is advertised as, it instead is a movie that is a preachy, dystopian nightmare.
