Review of Barbie (2023) by Timmoore — 23 Jul 2023
Was genuinely funny in the first half but political themes become a bit to 'on the nose' in the second half. But still fun. The preeching and lecturing really weakened the second half, although people's enjoyment will likely be determined by their own politics. Ironically, the best thing about the film was Ken. Ryan Gosling stole the show with excellent comedy and an interesting sub plot about thhe finding purpose in the world.
The film suffers from trying to balance being a kids film with more adult themes and jokes, with a slightly inconsistent outcome.
