Review of Barbershop: The Next Cut (2016) by Greg B — 27 Apr 2016
"Barbershop 3: The Next Cut" is a situational comedy about the infamous barbershop run by Ice Cube and Cedric the Entertainer. In this installment, the actors comment on gang warfare and racial tension on the south side of Chicago and promote a 48-hour ceasefire to ease the tensions.
Though the direction is a bit heavy-handed and preachy, the film has a good message overall and has a lot to say about social injustice and the cost of crime. The film is a comedy but at the same time speaks volumes about racial tensions.
I found the film both funny and informative. It strikes the balance well ----------------------------------------- B.
