Review of Barbershop: The Next Cut (2016) by James C — 29 Apr 2016
Is this movie a comedy or a political statement? I guess it is both, but I didn't find it very funny. What I don't like about this movie is that it is shot like a sitcom instead of a movie. It's like, ok we are going to shoot all of your lines from this angle, then move the camera to the next person and shoot from that angle.
Rarely are there any extended shots of the room with back and forth dialogue that gives this movie any flow. This to me, has the characters disjointed and the flow of the movie is so chopped up. There are some chuckles, but this is a statement movie about all the violence and death in Chicago.
If you liked the other Barbershop movies, you will enjoy this one, but otherwise maybe a rental for you instead.
