Review of Barbershop: The Next Cut (2016) by James A — 23 Jul 2016
Simply put, an Afterschool Special. Through out the movie we are subjected to political talking points and moronic story lines. Their attempts at addressing the gang problem was silly at best. but the real solution was revealed, but was never really discussed. Parental involvement, specifically the large number of fatherless homes and their impact on Black neighborhoods. Admittedly, there were several funny moments, but they were very few and far between.
There is one thing that bothers me (spoiler alert); if you are closing your barbershop in one location and moving it to another. Leaving the old patrons and employees behind. And expect to turn a profit at the new location. Why can't you open a second location and leave the first in place. The South Chicago only making a "small" profit, but a profit non the less.
In short, not worth the time.
