Review of Barbershop 2: Back in Business (2004) by Yita Y — 04 Feb 2007
This is one of the sequels were its necessary to watch to watch the first film first. Anyway, Ice Cube returns as Calvin, who's once again fighting for his barbershop. This time against a corporate barbershop place called Nappy Cuts.
Calvin starts try everything he can think of to keep people coming to his store, but at the same time relationships are made and broken and loyalties are tested. Most of the characters are more rounded than they were in Barbershop 1.
Issac is now the best barber in the shop, Dinka still has a crush on Terri but is also falling for one of Janelle's beauticians, Ricky is attracted to Terri, Jimmy is working for the local Alderman who is in support of Nappy Cutz taking over, and Calvin's got a new barber, his wacked out hyper cousin in law, Kenard.
Plus we got to see what Eddie's life was like back during the days of Martin Luther King and segregation.
