Review of Barbarella (1968) by Johnathan H — 09 Nov 2007
Contrary to the star rating, I didn't hate this movie. To me, this is one of the best sexploitation movies... ranging from the zero gravity striptease to a space piano that kills by giving fatal orgasms, women smoking "essense of men" to strange sci-fi talk, this movie does it all.
Throughout the movie, a queer 60s dance/pop plays in the background whilst psychedelic images flash from time to time. The sets are highly imaginative - very akin to what you see in "A Clockwork Orange".
The true star of the movie is Jane Fonda who gets it on with a galactic hairy snowman, a topless space angel and a totally inept rebel. The quality of the movie is awful, but then again, that's not why you're watching Barbarella, is it? This movie is so bad, it's good.
Oh yeah!
