Review of Baraka (1992) by Anas S — 20 Apr 2008
I watched this film in class. Its an international documentary, shot in 24 countries. There is not a single word spoken in this feature. There are no characters, no character development just shots from across the world. The images u see tell us a story. It shows us beautiful landscapes, different cultures, different religions and gives some interesting views of its own which are open to interpretation. It is up to the audience to piece the scenes together. The film says a thousand words without really saying anything. It hits u as both intellectually and spiritually.
The film is not meant to entertain u, but make u think. To do total justice to the film, it is highly recommended that it should be viewed on a big screen tv with a nice surround sound system for its cinematography and music is amazingly well done. Also watch with ur closest friends, cos it helps view the film in different perspectives.
