Review of Barabbas (1961) by Bob W — 12 Apr 2009
There are many scenes (mass crucifixion under a real eclipse, phenomenal gladiatorial scene) that commend themselves, and some fine acting performances by Quinn et al, but the screenplay seems uneven and at points the film loses pacing altogether.
It just doesn't live up to its contemporaries (Ben Hur, 10 Commandments) in that department. But overall still an interesting tale with some surprisingly sensitive and captivating moments.
