Review of Bangkok Dangerous (2008) by Paula D — 24 Jul 2009
In the cultural chumming of the waters that the studios provide there are a few favored flavors ladeled out, the comedy, the romantic comedy, the action flick, the drama (where you might bag an oscar) and perhaps one or two more categories.
Bangkok Dangerous falls comfortably into the realm of the action flick complete with guns, chases, hand to hand combat, the woman who needs to get rescued, all of that don't worry it's covered.
This one is the old assassin with a heart of steel who after a lifetime of killing around the globe finally develops a conscience.
It's only cute when movies have people getting more humane as the movie goes along. I started out as wide eyed and blissful as the next diaper filler, Shit, by now when I see a dog that got hit by a car on the side of the road it doesn't even make be think twice. I wish I could have the transformative sort of moment like in the movie that Cage has when he meets a beautiful deaf pharmacist.
But when was the last time YOU met a beautiful deaf pharmacist?? Only in the movies.
