Review of Bangkok Dangerous (2008) by Daijobu D — 07 Feb 2010
I wanted to like this movie more, but it made a hard case for itself.
At times the action was interesting, and I thought the narration was well done - it suited the mood of the film. I also thought some of the plot points were put together well, in particular the structure of his business and his rules, so that piqued my interest too.
I liked the relationships between the characters, Joe and Kong, Joe and Fon, and Kong and Aom. But Nicolas Cage and his character Joe didn't create a convincing hitman.
I was very disappointed with how his relationship with Fon fell apart, and the climax of the film. The ending really did not have to end that way. Overall this movie came up short.
