Review of Bangkok Dangerous (2008) by Thomas D — 26 Jun 2010
Bangkok was awesome! It was much more than I had expected. When the movie first came out back in '08 it looked good from the previews, but it just looked like another Nicholas Cage movie. It starts slow, but quickly spirals into a very intense, action filled depiction of the memoirs of a hitman as he works his blood soaked profession through the crime filled underworld of Thailand.
Lots of blood and also lots of story believe it or not! Cage actually shows off a well acted roll that actually becomes memorable by the movies end. His interest in the def pharmacy girl throws a unique and different aspect into the blackened, cold killer that Cage portrays.
What I really liked about the movie was how quick it jumped into the gritty world of Thailands crime syndicate. The movie was pretty dark and stayed interesting the whole time. It is worth a watch and it will stand out from all of those regular, run of the mill Nick Cage flicks were he is just plain, basic, non-complex Nick Cage.
Watch him go out of the ordinary and serve up some poor bastards! 4-stars!
