Review of Bangkok Dangerous (2008) by Javier M — 11 Dec 2010
A good ride through a murky world that is marked out by the presence of Nicolas Cage. He plays the part of the ruthless, lone, yet vulnerable, assasin that is difficult to make you're own as it's been done loads, and with varying success.
It had a similar plot to 'The Killer', in which Chow-Yun-Fat plays the latter role with great success too, but it also had the feel of 'Collateral' in the way that Joe selects a man to assist him, Col, who is at first ignorant to the nature of his "boss".
This genre of film can be quite limiting and predictable, given that it is the assasins last 'job', and the american/asian crossover can be cliche'd. The fact that the movie holds my attention, I suspect, is because of the direction and, performances of the leads.
