Review of Bangkok Dangerous (2008) by Pedro C — 29 Apr 2011
The travesty of Netflixing Bangkok Dangerous is a result of neglecting my queue for far too long. This is a compilation of the worst aspects of Hollywood movies (cliched dialogue, painfully predictable plot), foreign films (long, awkward pauses, unnecessary flashbacks) and martial arts flicks (novice student masters complicated combat techniques within a few days thanks to a "good" teacher). Nicholas Cage overracted way too much, and his deaf/mute/Thai love interest looks Chinese, not Thair, which I would expect from Jerry Bruckheimer, not the Pang Brothers. If you mistakenly rent this movie, watch the alternate ending, it's waaaay better than the original ending. And, (spoiler alert!) leaves room for the sequel, Bangkok.
Dangerous-er.
