Review of Bangkok Dangerous (2000) by Joe L — 14 May 2009
Umm like the wicker man this version (the original) is all I see and after seeing this one like the wicker man it really doesn't make me want to see cage kill it for me so I will pass on the new version.
That being said Bangkok Dangerous is definitely one of the best (maybe the best) thing that the Pang Bros. have created and it is rather stylized and shot very odd for it's kind of movie, but is always entertaining.
I will not try and defend the story by saying it's so highly original because it's not it's the typical hitman film filled with bursts of close up gun blasts and gangsters getting killed but Bangkok still does it pretty good.
It's like a fun asian mix of classic old b-action films from the states mixed with good story telling and shot almost like a mixture of a horror and action film. Fans of action, gangster, and just general gangster movies will like this one.
Reminded me a lot of Rainy Dog by Takashi Miike.
