Review of Bandslam (2009) by Scott G — 31 Mar 2010
It's nice to have a simply fun good movie to watch.
It's a coming of age story.
It's a fish out of water story.
It's a popular kid slums it with the dorks and find out what's really important story.
It's a love story.
It's a music story.
This movie has it over others in its genre as it seems unforced. It doesn't try to to group anyone in any comically stereotypical way, althought it does have recognizable kids; namely popular and not-so-much. The characters seem more real than a typical high school movie. Life isn't so hard and fast as fiction likes to portray it and the kids seem more like real kids with hearts and brains and souls.
Good music. Simple, predictable, yet enjoyable plot. Decent acting. Believable Characters.
It won't change your life but you'll probably laugh and maybe even mist up at least once.
