Review of Bandslam (2009) by Jeremy K — 12 Mar 2011
This movie is extremely enjoyable, depending on what your interests are. The characters are likeable, the situations are genuine, and the scripting is very smart and well-oriented. You may find some cliches here and there, but you're so enamored by the main character and what he's striving for that you find that it's not that big a deal.
The moral of breaking free from the norm and trying something new is impressively downplayed; instead, it's more about not being afraid of talking about what you know, and believing in what makes you happy.
"Bandslam" sounds cheesy, and maybe it is, but it's a feel-good film, and you can't help rocking out to it.
