Review of Bandslam (2009) by Alex W — 14 Mar 2010
Ok, So where is the Disney logo? This has to be the 40th musical teen flick I have seen. But bandslam is truly better then High School Music and it can stand on its own. Now the storyline starts off cheesy with the new geeky kid getting the girl and moving to the new town. It changes though and goes in a direction unlike any other teen movie in the past. Vannessa Hughens finally gets to come out and perform to the level that she is now at. If she gets the right roles I can see her being the next Sandra Bullock. Anyway by the time you finish watching this film you will be chanting for the band in a antsy way felt in movies like rocky.

Jennie Punter of Globe and Mail- 2 out of 5.
"It feels like a missed opportunity, but perhaps is a blessing since Bandslam's dialogue is much more pat than Hughes's quotable writing.".
