Review of Bandits (1987) by Steven H — 08 Dec 2007
It's good to see a Bruce Willis movie again. You're probably thinking, "But it hasn't been that long since the last Bruce Willis movie." You're right in that there have been other movies with Bruce Willis, but this is the first movie in a very long time where we've gotten to see the John McClane/Joe Hallenbeck Bruce that we all know and love (since The Whole Nine Yards at least, though Unbreakable came close once or twice).
Anyway, in addition to seeing Bruce as the wise-cracking tough guy once again, we get to see Billy Bob Thornton doing a great job as the neurotic bank robber sidekick and Cate Blanchett being pretty much apeshit crazy.
There's even a nice twist at the end--though to be quite honest I would have been perfectly happy without it (I was laughing my ass off when they were shooting each other).
