Review of Bandidas (2006) by Hugh J — 09 Apr 2009

This movie would've been ten times more amazing if they just embraced the b-movie aspect of it and added more cleavage and raunchy humour. Seeing two hot actresses behave like stupid little girls isn't exactly the best use of their assets and it's made even worse when they're covered up for the majority of the flick.

Sure there were some instances of cleavage but not enough to offset Dwight Yoakam and his creepy presence in the movie. Steve Zahn was decent as well but the whole kissing game was pretty lame. And with Audra Blaser as pretty as she is, I'm surprised they didn't use her to raise the stakes for Zahn's character at the end.

Also could've used more Sam Shepard. The man's a badass. I loved the score, though, the robberies were pretty creative and well-done, except for the sneezing and hiccups, and the actions scenes were also pretty damn good (loved the slow-motion bullet-time).

Still, I can't help but feel like this is a wasted opportunity when you've got three chicks I really like and Steve Zahn doing shit that's definitely beneath them.
