Review of Bananas!* (2009) by Todd P — 17 Jun 2009

Even though Woody Allen did better films after this one (such as "Annie Hall" and "Manhattan" to name two), "Bananas" has been my sentimental favorite ever since I first saw it on PBS as a teenager.

As a previous reviewer mentioned, "Bananas" is basically just a bunch of skits very loosely tied together, but it helps that each gag from start to finish is hilarious. It is nearly impossible for me to pick a favorite scene or gag, but if I had to I would pick the scene where Allen robs a fast-food joint in the middle of the jungle.

And also the scene where a (young and uncredited) Sylvester Stallone pays a thug who harasses Allen and other passengers in the subway.
