Review of Bamboozled (2000) by Lucas Y — 15 May 2010
I was pretty wowed by this film when it came out, amazed to what kind of balls Spike Lee to make such an amazing film about what people think about black culture now and then, and then mixing it in with the state of television.
Upon viewing it again for the 3rd time, I'm starting to see it's flaws, a lot of the characters are not fleshed out enough (expect Delacroix) for us to really care, and it doesn't help that they're some gaps in the plot in terms of relationships.
Still, you really have to see this, there's some amazing performances in this (Especially Savion Glover, and Michael Rappaport playing the hip black white guy way way before it became the norm) and the imagery of it is incrediible.
