Review of Bambi (2013) by Stacy M — 22 Jun 2010
A horror film that masquerades as a cartoon. What various other horror films don't seem to realize (like Saw and its sources and rip offs) is that there needs to be something precious at stake, and the characters of the drama cannot realize that something precious IS at stake until its too late.
The idealic world of part one makes for an effective startling contrast of part two (beginning with the exit of Bambi's mom) that showcases true horror in a very ingenious fashion. Accessible to any child, yet works entirely at a different level for any adult.
